Emergency Financial Aid

Our emergency-aid fund is fully committed for this cycle and reopens in Q4 2026. You don't have to wait on us — here are veteran emergency funds that can help right now.

Emergency aid is paused right now — but you have other options

Wounded Warriors is a small, veteran‑run 501(c)(3). We’ve committed our entire current emergency‑aid budget to the veterans already in our queue, and our next funding cycle opens in Q4 2026. We’d rather be straight with you than leave you waiting on a reply that can’t come yet.

Please don’t wait on us — the organizations below help with the same bills and several move faster than we can. Applications reopen in Q4 2026.

In crisis or thinking about hurting yourself? Call 988 then Press 1 (Veterans Crisis Line) or text 838255 — free, confidential, 24/7, no VA enrollment needed.

Frequently asked

How fast can you help?

Our emergency-aid fund is currently paused — our budget for this cycle is fully committed and applications reopen in Q4 2026. Please use the other emergency funds listed on this page; several help with the same bills and can move quickly. If you're in immediate physical danger call 911, or for a mental-health crisis call or text the Veterans Crisis Line at 988.

What kinds of emergencies do you cover?

Rent/mortgage to prevent eviction, utility bills facing shutoff, emergency medical costs not covered by VA/insurance, vehicle repairs required for work, food assistance in a short-term crisis, and emergency temporary-housing costs. We pay vendors directly.

What's the maximum grant?

$2,000. Typical grants run $500-$1,000 depending on the situation. Grants are one-time per veteran per calendar year.

Who qualifies?

US veterans with an honorable discharge, a documented financial emergency (eviction notice, utility shutoff, medical bill), household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, and who have exhausted other assistance options (VA, 211, family).

Do you pay the bill directly?

Yes. Funds are paid to the landlord, utility company, medical provider, or vendor — not to the veteran. This protects everyone and ensures the aid solves the emergency.

Is my application confidential?

Yes. We review every submission privately. If you consent, we may share an anonymous version of your story (no name, no city) to support fundraising — you control that choice.
